As part of its commitment to accelerating Ireland’s renewable energy future, RWE has announced its role as a Strategic Partner Sponsor at the upcoming Wind Energy Trade Show 2024, held in Dublin on November 6-7. The event will bring together industry leaders and innovators to discuss the future of renewable energy and the vital role offshore wind will play in Ireland’s path to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Noel Cunniffe, CEO of Wind Energy Ireland, said “We are delighted to have RWE as a strategic sponsor for the second year running. In 2024 the first six offshore wind energy projects in a generation will apply for planning permission. Delivering all of these projects safely through the planning system must be a national priority.

“They are essential not just to reaching our 2030 climate action targets but to building the supply-chain for more fixed and floating wind energy farms in the next decade. Each of those projects is another building block laying the foundation of Irish energy independence.”

RWE’s offshore wind team will be on hand to discuss the growing portfolio in Ireland, including the Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm. RWE’s Project Director for Dublin Array, Vanessa O’Connell, will be a key participant in the keynote session, "Our Journey to Energy Independence," alongside other prominent voices in Ireland’s renewable development.

RWE will also host a roundtable on Cluster Development during the trade show. This forum will explore the creation of a collaborative offshore wind and marine economy cluster, aligned with Ireland’s National Clustering Programme (NCP), which seeks to establish five national cluster organisations by 2030. By uniting industry experts, RWE aims to foster timely collaboration among suppliers, innovators, and infrastructure providers to help shape a successful offshore wind national cluster bid, aimed at advancing business and technology growth potential in Ireland.

RWE, a leading global player in renewable energy, is developing the Dublin Array offshore wind farm with the project team operating out of Dún Laoghaire. With a capacity of up to 824 megawatts, it will be able to generate enough electricity for an estimated 770,000 homes and help to reduce Ireland’s annual carbon emissions by over 1.4m tonnes per year. The project is planned to be operational by the end of 2030.
